I have lovely memories of that first time doing Artist’s Way with you! It was the very beginning of calling myself a writer, even though I’d already been writing for years. I still go back to Morning Pages when I need them.
I, too, have lovely memories from that period. 🩵 You were writing a novel if I remember correctly! How’s that project going? And what impact would you say The Artist’s Way had in your life and creative practice?
I finished it about a year ago and have revised it several times. I’m getting ready to start querying literary agents as a first step to hopefully getting it published! I think the Artist’s Way helped me take myself seriously as an artist, and let go of a lot of internalised capitalist thinking around productivity. It’s such a great book, especially to work through with other likeminded souls. I think it would be pretty overwhelming to do alone.
CONGRATS on finishing your first book! This is major! I so look forward to reading it, and I’m sooo excited for you.
Totally agree about the community component of The Artist’s Way. I don’t think I would have been able to go as deep with the course as I did with the support of our creative cluster. I would have probably read the whole book but I wouldn’t have *done* the course, as in doing the exercises and practices offered by the author. Which I think is the whole point. We *collect* so much information nowadays. What we tend not to do is practice and integrate.
